Fire safety in built environments: be compliant with Core!

We offer a partnership approach which delivers compliant yet efficient and cost-effective solutions.

The UK and Ireland are experiencing an increasing number of fire safety breaches. The majority of subsequent incidents arise as a result of a lack of compliance with the Building Regulations.
At Core, we actively campaign for a better application of these fire safety regulations. We support  consultant engineers, electrical contractors and end clients to deliver installations which meet legal requirements whilst remaining efficient.

Too often tight deadlines and budgets drive down quality and installation standards. Yet failure to comply can lead to consequences far greater than the economic cost for the parties involved.

Fire safety in construction projects should always be a priority.

We have worked with both European and British manufacturers, and with an all- Ireland client portfolio, to develop specific fire-rated solutions that meet current legal requirements and provide reliability and security to the end-users. Our ability to supply complete systems provides the assurance of a fully compliant electrical installation.

We pride ourselves in helping our customers meet legal requirements whilst remaining efficient. Our specific solutions ensure your electrical installation is compliant with fire regulations. We also support the project by providing design and installation advice as well as testing, commissioning and on-going maintenance services.

Electrical installations are the number one cause of fire in buildings. The rapid spread of fire, smoke and fumes can quickly become a killer. Modern buildings in Ireland and the UK should have active fire safety systems that fulfill three goals: insulate fire compartments to limit the spread of flame, smoke and fumes; protect escape routes to allow safe evacuation from the building and enable fire fighters to safely tackle the fire; maintain the power supply to critical life safety, emergency, evacuation and fire-fighting systems. Electrical systems and equipment must therefore be installed, tested and commissioned in line with the standards demanded by the regulatory bodies – the Electro-Technical Council of Ireland (ETCI) in Ireland and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in the UK.

Benefiting from our partnerships with leading European manufacturers, we have developed specialised solutions to ensure conformity with these various standards namely IS 3217 & 3218, BS 7671 and BS 8519.

Fire-rated solutions include:

  • modular wiring and flat cable systems (integrating LSOH, E90 and I120 flat cables);
  • cable containment, supports and fire box systems (tested to DIN 4102 part 12 – function maintenance class E90);
  • emergency lighting (addressable or stand-alone self-contained systems to maintain integrity and the risk of reduce human error).

According to the client’s needs, we supply high-performance systems along with engineering, design, logistical and various support services. This makes our solutions incredibly fast and simple to install, therefore helping accelerate the site programme whilst minimising the labour requirement and virtually eliminating waste. The result is a fully adaptable and future-proofed installation that clients desire.

Our ability to engineer complete solutions maximises installations efficiency. As an example, pluggable modular systems are delivered to site pre-wired and assembled on containment systems, ready for immediate installation, achieving significant efficiency gains.

We take safety very seriously. It is in the interest of our customers to comply with the fire regulations, but to do so without significant additional effort and costs. That is where our service and our products makes the difference, enabling customers to be compliant without compromising performance or budget.
